From May 24 to May 31, in collaboration with Brooklyn’s Picture Room, Esopus presented an exhibition of works by artist Paolo Arao related to his project for Esopus 25. This series, entitled “Flagettes,” consisted of diptychs of vibrant fabric collages the artist created while in residency at the Vermont Studio Center. Seven of these diptychs appeared in the issue, and the exhibition at Picture Room featured a selection of these and other works from the series.
RELATED EVENT AT PICTURE ROOM: On Wednesday, May 30, Esopus presented a poetry reading by Suzanne Highland, who was in residency with Arao at the Vermont Studio Center, and two other Brooklyn-based poets, Laura Buccieri and Lauren Clark. The event also served as the closing reception for Arao's exhibition.
