Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Karo Akpokiere received a diploma in graphic design from the Yaba College of Technology in 2006. His first solo exhibition was “26/365: An Exhibition of Illustrated Letters” at the Goethe-Institut, Lagos, Nigeria, in 2011. He has since been included in group exhibitions around the world, including “All of the World’s Futures” at the 56th Venice Biennale (2015), “Making Africa: A Continent of Contemporary Design” at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany (2015), “Making Africa” at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain (2015–2016), and in the IV Biennial of Montevideo (2019). Akpokiere lives and works in both Lagos and Berlin.
