For Perfect World, the acclaimed Dusseldorf–based artist created a brand-new series of paintings featuring exquisitely rendered images of building exteriors and interiors, many of which employ mirroring effects (amplified by the use of unique folds within the pages themselves).
Stefan Kürten is a painter and musician who lives and works in Düsseldorf. He attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and later studied and taught at the Art Institute of San Francisco. Kürten’s work has been exhibited extensively since 1984 at institutions such as Galerie Ute Parduhn, Düsseldorf; University Art Museum, Berkeley, California; the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin; and Alexander and Bonin, New York. Kürten’s paintings are in the permanent collections of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld; the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, among many other institutions. In 2012, he was named the Theodore Randall International Chair in Art and Design at Alfred University, New York.
